Stitching Instructions for Making the Sweet Suzy Washcloth Pattern:

Begin by chaining 30.

  • Row 1: Into the second CH from your hook, place 1 SC. Continue by placing 1 SC into each CH until the end of the row. CH 1 and turn. You should have 29 SC stitches.
  • Rows 2-5: Into the first stitch, place 1 SC and 1 DC. Skip the next stitch. Repeat placing 1 SC and 1 DC into the next stitch and skipping the next stitch 12 more times. Place 1 SC into the last stitch. CH 1 and turn. You should have 15 SC stitches and 14 DC stitches, totaling 29 stitches.
  • Rows 6-9: Into the first stitch, place one BLSC. Continue by placing 1 BLSC into each stitch until the end of the row. CH 1 and turn. You should have 29 BLSC stitches.
  • Repeat Rows 2-9: Repeat rows 2-9 two more times ending on row 25.
  • Rows 26-29: Into the first stitch, place 1 SC and 1 DC. Skip the next stitch. Repeat placing 1 SC and 1 DC into the next stitch and skipping the next stitch 12 more times. Place 1 SC into the last stitch. CH 1 and turn for rows 26-28. After completing row 29, if you want to add edging, do not CH 1 or turn your work. If you don’t want to add edging, fasten off and weave in ends. Rows 26-29 will also result in 15 SC stitches and 14 DC stitches, totaling 29 stitches.

Optional Edging:

If you would like to add edging, work into the same space as the last SC from row 29 and place two more SC stitches. This will create a corner curve around to the next edge.

Evenly place 1 SC around all edges working 3 SC stitches into each corner stitch space. Once you have returned to the beginning of your edging, SS into the first SC you made. Fasten off and weave in ends.
