Free Puff Flower pattern

Pattern Description:

The Crochet Puff Flower is one of the easiest crochet flowers for beginners. It is an easy to intermediate level pattern, with the main challenge for beginners being the concept of working stitches into front and back loops only. 

The finished flower, often combined with a crochet pot, can be used as a decoration for tables, cars, or other places in the home, or even as a gift. 

It is noted for being super easy to finish, requiring only basic stitches, no special tools or accessories, and allowing for color customization.

Materials Needed & Measurements:

  • Yarn: Yarn of five specific colors: pink, white, green, dark brown, and light brown is required.
  • Hook: A 2.5mm hook is needed.

Instructions for Making the Puff Flower Free pattern:

Flower Pot

The flower pot begins with a magic ring.

  • R1: Make 6 sc into the ring, 1 ss, 1 ch.
  • R2: Increase the stitch count by making 2 sc in each stitch from the previous round. Repeat 6 times. 1 ss, 1 ch.
  • R3: Make 1 sc in the next stitch and then make 2 sc in the following stitch. Repeat 6 times. 1 ss, 1 ch.
  • R4: The pattern states to “Make 2 sc in the next stitch and then make 2 sc in the following stitch. Repeat 6 times. 1 ss”.
  • R5: 2 ch, work BLO 24 hdc, 1 ss. This creates the ridged surface.
  • R6-7: 2 ch, make 24 hdc in each round. 1 ss.
  • R8: 3 ch, make 24 dc. 1 ss.
  • R9: 3 ch, work FLO 24 dc. Cut yarn and weave in the end.
  • Additionally, work FLO ss a round in front loops of R4, then cut yarn and weave in the end.

Soil Surface

The soil surface also starts with a magic ring.

  • R1: Make 6 sc into the ring. 1 ss, 1 ch.

  • R2: Repeat 5 times: Ch 3, 4 dc unfinished in same st, 4 dc unfinished in next st, then all pull through, ch 4, make 1ss. Cut yarn and weave in the end.

Make Puff Flower Core

The pattern states to “Start with the foundation chain: 4 ch”.

  • Step 1: Make 5 dc leaving all of them unfinished (do not complete the final step of each stitch). Then all pull through.
  • Step 2: 4 ch. 1 ss and cut yarn, tie a knot.

  • Step 3: Take the flower core. Put the flower core at the center of the flower and secure it with hot melt adhesive.
  • Step 4: Wrap the wire with the yarn. While wrapping, attach the leaf in the middle and continue wrapping until the end to make it presentable.
  • Step 5: Use a hot melt adhesive to secure it.

To Assemble the Flower, Soil Surface, and Flowerpot:

  • Step 1: Weave the soil surface together with the flowerpot unfinished.
  • Step 2: Attach the flower to the soil surface, and then make a loop. Use hot melt adhesive to secure it.
  • Step 3: Add fiberfill, then finish weaving. Cut the yarn and weave it to hide the existing yarn.
