Stitching Instructions for Making the Fringed Edging Free Pattern:
Foundation Rnd (RS):

- Join yarn to any edge st with a sl st. Ch 1, work sc evenly around edge (approx. 1 sc per st or row end). Join with sl st to first sc. Do not fasten off.
- TIP: For corners, place 3 sc in each corner st to keep edging flat.
Edging Rnd:

- Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), sk next st, dc in next st, rep from to around. Join with sl st to top of beg ch-3.
- You now have a dc mesh spacing to anchor your fringe.
Fringe Attachment

- Cut strands of yarn approx. 6″ (15 cm) long.
- Bundle 3 strands together per fringe.
- Fold bundle in half to create a loop.
- Insert hook into any dc st or ch-sp, grab the loop, pull it partway through.
- Pull loose ends through loop and tighten to form a lark’s head knot.
- Rep in every dc st or every other st depending on desired fullness.
- Optional: Attach fringe only on shorter edges or corners for design variation.
Finishing

- Trim fringe evenly using a ruler or comb as a guide.
- Steam block lightly to set fringe and smooth edging (optional).
- Weave in all ends on WS with a yarn needle.
Customization Ideas
- Add beads to the fringe before knotting.
- Swap dc mesh for shell stitch or picot edging.
- Alternate fringe colors for a playful look.
- Use fewer or more strands per knot to control thickness.
