- CH – Chain
- SL ST – Slip Stitch
- ST – Stitch
- YO – Yarn Over
- CL ST – Cluster Stitch (3 double crochets worked together into the same CH-space)
- DC – Double Crochet
Pattern Notes:
- Begin each round in the chain space unless otherwise instructed.
- You will be creating four corners and four sides in each round.
- The CH 2 at the start of each round counts as your first double crochet.
Instructions for Making the Farmhouse Granny Square Pattern:
Starting Ring:

Begin by chaining 4. Join with a SL ST into the first chain to form a small ring. All your stitches for the first round will go into this center ring.
Round 1:

- CH 2 (counts as 1 DC), DC into the ring
- CH 2
- DC 2 together into the ring, CH 2
- Repeat from to 6 more times
- You should now have 8 groups of DC 2 together separated by CH 2 spaces.
- Join with a SL ST into the top of the first DC to close the round.
Round 2:

- SL ST into the first CH-space
- CH 2, DC 2 together into the same CH-space
- CH 2, CL ST (this forms your first corner), CH 2
- 3 DC into next CH-space (this creates the side), CH 2, CL ST, CH 2, CL ST into the next CH-space
- Repeat from * around the square
- Ensure you have 4 corners and 4 sides when finished
- Join with a SL ST into the top of the first DC.
Round 3:

- SL ST into the first CH-space
- CH 2, DC 2 together into the same CH-space
- CH 2, CL ST, CH 2
- *2 DC into next CH-space
- DC in next 3 ST
- 2 DC in next CH-space
- CL ST, CH 2, CL ST into next CH-space*
- Repeat from * all the way around
- SL ST to join.
Round 4:

- SL ST into the first CH-space
- CH 2, DC 2 together into the same space
- CH 2, CL ST, CH 2
- *2 DC into the next CH-space
- DC in next 7 ST
- 2 DC in next CH-space
- CL ST, CH 2, CL ST into next CH-space*
- Repeat the sequence around
- Join with SL ST into the first DC.
Round 5:

- SL ST into the first CH-space
- CH 2, DC 2 together into the same space

- *2 DC into the next CH-space
- DC in next 11 ST
- 2 DC in next CH-space
- CL ST, CH 2, CL ST into next CH-space*
- Repeat from * around the square
- Join with a SL ST into the first DC.
Finishing:

After completing your desired number of rounds, fasten off and use a darning needle to weave in the ends. You can block the square if needed for more defined edges and an even shape.
