Cube Fox Amigurumi Pattern

Pattern Description:

Make your own adorable cube-shaped fox using this free amigurumi crochet pattern. The design is fun, easy to follow, and can be made in two sizes, small with DK yarn or large with plush chunky chenille yarn.

Materials Needed:

  • Yarn:
    • Colors: Orange, white, black

      • Small Fox: DK yarn

    • 7mm (chenille version)

      • Small: 8mm eyes, small triangular nose
      • Large: 20mm button eyes, large triangular nose

Abbreviations & Stitches Used:

  • MC – Magic Circle
  • sc – Single Crochet
  • sl st – Slip Stitch
  • 2-sc inc – 2 single crochet in one stitch (increase)
  • 3-sc inc – 3 single crochet in one stitch
  • sc2tog – Single crochet two together (decrease)
  • sc3tog – Single crochet three together

Instructions for Making the Cube Fox Amigurumi Pattern:

Body (Make 1)

  • R1: 4 sc in MC (4 sts)
  • R2-R6: Gradual increases to reach 44 sts
  • R7: sc, sc2tog to reduce to 40 sts
  • R8-R11: Straight rounds (sc x 40)
  • R12-R13: Straight rounds with orange ➤ white color changes
  • R14-R17: Mix of sc3tog and sc2tog to decrease to 8 sts
    • Includes color transitions

Stuff the body firmly after R15. Place eyes between R11 and R12, 6 stitches apart.

Finish by sewing the opening closed after R17.

Snout (Make 1)

  • R1: 5 sc in MC with orange
  • R2–R3: Increase to 12 sts, changing to white in R3
  • Sl st in orange, fasten off
  • Insert nose in the center of the MC
  • Stuff lightly and leave long tails for sewing

Ears (Make 2)

  • R1: 5 sc in MC with black
  • R2–R6: Switch to orange and increase to 18 sts
    • R6 is a straight round
  • Do not stuff. Flatten and sew edges together
  • Leave long tail for sewing

Tail (Make 1)

  • R1-R4: White yarn
    • R1: 5 sc in MC
    • R2: Increase to 10 sts
    • R3: Straight
    • R4: Increase to 12 sts
  • R5-R16: Orange yarn
    • R5-R6: Increase to 20 sts
    • R7-R8: Straight
    • R9-R16: Gradual decreases to 5 sts, including straight rounds in between

Stuff lightly. Leave a long tail.

Legs (Make 4)

  • R1-R3: Black yarn
    • R1: 5 sc in MC
    • R2: Increase to 10
    • R3: Straight
  • R4-R7: Orange yarn (sc x 10)
  • Do not stuff. Leave a long tail

Assembly:

  • Legs: Attach evenly on the bottom of the body. Flatten and stitch through the center for a neat finish. Use pins to plan the placement.
  • Snout: Sew between the eyes, with the top aligned to R10 and the bottom to R13. Use color-matching tails for invisible seams.
  • Tail: Attach at the back between R11–R12. For a curled look, angle it slightly to the side.
  • Ears: Position with one edge on R3 and the opposite edge on R8. Slightly curve when attaching for added character.

Tips:

  • Safety eyes should be attached before final stuffing.
  • Mix and match yarn weights and eye sizes to create variations.
  • For a keychain version, use fingering yarn and a 2mm hook.
