Materials:
- Yarn: Scheepjes Catona, 100% Mercerized Cotton, DK weight (Category 3) – smooth texture and good stitch definition ideal for floral designs

Stitching Instructions for Making the Crochet Flower Border Pattern:
Flower Motif (Make as You Go)

- Round 1:

- Ch 4, sl st into first ch to form a ring.
- Ch 1, work 10 sc into the ring. Sl st to first sc to join. (10 sts total)
- Round 2:

- (Ch 3, 2 dc in same st, ch 3, sl st in same st) – 1 petal made
- Sl st in next st, rep from to in each of the next 9 sts (10 petals total)
- Sl st to base of first petal to close. Do not fasten off unless making flowers individually.
Connecting Flowers with Chains

- After completing the last petal of a flower:
- Ch 5 (for spacing), begin next flower directly with Round 1
- Repeat motif and connecting chains until border reaches the desired length
- Tip: To avoid twisting, always lay your work flat while chaining and adding the next flower.
Optional Leafy Scallop Edging (Under Flowers)

- After finishing the flower chain:
- Turn to wrong side and work into each ch-5 sp between flowers:
- (sc, hdc, dc, tr, dc, hdc, sc) – this forms a leaf-like arch
- Rep in each space across
- Turn to wrong side and work into each ch-5 sp between flowers:
- This adds a lovely finishing touch and gives a gentle wave under the flowers.
Finishing Instructions

- Block your border:
- Pin flat onto a blocking mat
- Spray or steam lightly to help petals open and arches lay flat
- Weave in ends:
- Use a tapestry needle to neatly hide yarn tails on the wrong side
- Attach border:
- Use sl st or surface crochet to anchor the flower motifs to your project
- For garments or blankets, align each flower center to the edge and attach invisibly through back loops or chain loops
Extra Tips
- Try variegated yarn for colorful petals
