Instructions for Making the Blooming Crochet Flowers and Leaves Pattern:
Round 1: Creating the Center (First Color)

- Chain Method: With the first color, ch4 (this counts as the center chain and 1dc), then work 11dc into the 4th ch from the hook.
Join with a sl st to the top of the beginning ch 3. Fasten off yarn. This will result in 12dc.
- Magic Ring Method (Alternative): With the first color, make a magic ring. Ch3 (counts as 1dc), then work 11dc into the ring.
Tighten the magic ring and join with a sl st to the top of the beginning ch 3. Fasten off yarn. This also results in 12dc.
Round 2: First Layer of Petals (Second Color)

- [ch 2, 1dc] into the same st, then [1dc, ch 2, sl st] into the next st. Repeat this sequence from to a total of 6 times. Fasten off yarn. This creates 6 petals.
Round 3: Base for Second Layer (Third Color)

- With the right side of the flower facing you, you will now work behind Row 2. Hold the petals forward to clearly see your work.
- With the third color, work 1 sl st into a st between petals (ensure to hook 2 loops to create a stable base).
- Then, (ch 4, 1 sl st in the stitch between the next petal). Repeat this sequence 5 times.
- Finally, ch 4, then sl st to the first sl st to close. Do not fasten off yarn. This round creates 6 x ch-4 loop spaces, which will serve as the foundation for the next layer of petals.
A user inquired about this round, and the designer clarified that you “create chains behind round 2” and “then work round 4 into them to make the 2nd layer of petals”.
Round 4: Second Layer of Petals (Continuing Third Color)

- Sl st into the first ch-4 space.
- Then, [ch2, 3dc, ch2, slst] in the same space, sl st into the next ch-4 space. Repeat this sequence from to a total of 6 times. Fasten off yarn. This creates another layer of 6 petals.
Round 5: Base for Third Layer (Fourth Color)

- With the fourth color, and working behind Round 4, work 1 sl st into a st between petals.
- Then, (ch 5, 1 sl st in the stitch between petals). Repeat this sequence 5 times.
- Finally, ch 5, then sl st to the first sl st to close. Do not fasten off yarn. This creates 6 x ch-5 loop spaces for the final layer.
Round 6: Third Layer of Petals (Standard Version, Continuing Fourth Color)

- Sl st into the first ch-5 space.
- Then, [ch2, 4dc, ch2, slst] in the same space, sl st into the next ch-5 space. Repeat this sequence from to a total of 6 times. Fasten off yarn. This completes the final layer of 6 petals.
Round 7 (Picot Version Alternative):

- Sl st into the first ch-5 space.
- Then, [ch2, 2dc, ch2, sl st back into the 2nd ch from hook (this forms the picot), 2dc, ch2, slst] in the same space, sl st into the next ch-5 space. Repeat this sequence from to a total of 6 times. Fasten off yarn. This also results in 6 petals with a distinct picot edge.
After completing the rounds, weave in all threads to finish your flower.
Instructions for Crochet Leaves Pattern

For those who wish to add leaves, a simple leaf pattern is provided.
- Ch 7.
- sc in the 2nd ch from hook.
- hdc in the next ch.
- dc in each of the next 3 chs.
- [2 hdc, ch 2, sc back into the 2nd ch from hook, 2 hdc] in the last ch. This sequence forms the point of the leaf and helps you transition to the other side. A user had difficulty with this part, and the designer clarified to “try and grab 2 loops with your hook and then make 2 more hdc back into the same space.
[2 hdc, ch 2, sc back in to 2nd ch from hook, 2 hdc] is all made in the same space so it fits tightly together”. This section requires working all those stitches into the same last chain space.
- Rotate to work along the other side of ch 7.
- Dc in each of the next 3 chs.
- hdc in the next ch.
- sc in the last ch.
- Sl st to the first sc to join.
- Fasten off and weave in threads.
Attaching Flowers and Leaves

- Attaching Leaves to Flowers: Leaves can be attached by sewing them with a few stitches to the back of the flower.
- Attaching Flowers to Other Projects: Flowers can be attached to items like blankets and shawls by pinning them in place and sewing them on with a thin cotton yarn or sewing thread, making a few light stitches.
Embellishing Flower Centers: Sweet little rose embellishments or felt flowers can be added to the center of the crochet flower by sewing them on or using a hot glue gun.
