Instructions for Making the Bunny Pillow With The Longest Softest Fur Pattern:

Step 1: Preparing and Cutting the Pattern Pieces

First, print out the pattern for the face and ear, then tape the pieces together as indicated. Lay the assembled pattern onto the back of your faux fur fabric and trace around it using a marker.

When cutting the faux fur, use sharp scissors to carefully cut just the backing fabric, making sure to avoid cutting through the actual fur. This method prevents awkward, uneven edges.

Do not use a rotary cutter for this material. Repeat this process to cut out two fur faces. For the ears, cut out four pieces in total: two from the white wool felt and two from the faux fur.

Step 2: Assembling the Ears

Take one wool ear piece and one fur ear piece, and pin them together. Carefully tuck all the faux fur hair inwards so it doesn’t get caught in the seam.

Using a 1/4″ seam allowance, sew slowly around the curved edge, leaving the short, straight end of the ear open

A walking foot will significantly help with sewing the faux fur smoothly. Once sewn, pull the ear right side out through the opening.

Use a pen or chopstick to gently poke out all the edges to ensure a neat shape. Finally, baste along the very edge of the short, open end of each ear.

Step 3: Embroidering the Bunny’s Face

This step brings personality to your bunny. Begin by transferring the face pattern onto your chosen face fabric using Fabri-Solvy or Stick n Stitch.

If using Stick n Stitch, you can print the pattern directly onto the sheets. Once transferred, embroider the face details.

After embroidering, if you used a water-soluble transfer method, cut out the face shape and wash away the transfer paper.

Step 4: Attaching the Embroidered Face

Carefully position the embroidered face onto one of the main fur face pieces. Use pins to center and affix it securely, taking care to fluff any surrounding faux fur out of the way.

Stitch the embroidered face onto the fur face. As you stitch, you may need to trim any excess faux fur as needed to keep the edges neat.

Step 5: Basting the Ears and Sewing the Main Faces Together

Take the finished ears and baste them onto the front fur face piece (the one with the embroidered face). Position them roughly 8″ apart.

There might be some overhang from the ears, which you can trim later if necessary. Once the ears are basted, place the second fur face piece on top, right sides together.

Pin all the way around the two face pieces. Sew them together using a 1/4″ seam allowance, being sure to leave a roughly 3″ opening along one edge. This opening will be used for turning and stuffing the pillow.

Step 6: Stuffing and Finishing

Through the 3″ opening you left, carefully pull the entire bunny pillow right side out. Once turned, begin to fill the pillow generously with poly-fill stuffing until it reaches your desired plumpness.

After stuffing, use a hand sewing needle and coordinating thread to hand stitch the opening closed. Fluff your new bunny pillow, and it’s ready to be enjoyed!

Care Instructions

While the crinkle faux fur fabric typically recommends hand washing only, for items of this nature, a delicate cold wash cycle with line drying is often a viable alternative, though it hasn’t been officially tested for this specific project.
