Stitching Instructions for Making the Tassel Border Free Pattern:

Base Border

Base Border
  • Attach Yarn to the edge of your project with a slip stitch.
  • Round 1: Ch 1, sc evenly all the way around the edge of your item. Place 3 sc in each corner. Join with sl st to first sc.
  • Round 2 (optional for cleaner finish): Ch 1, sc in each st around. Join with sl st to first sc. Fasten off and weave in ends.
  • Tip: Make sure to place sc evenly about 1 sc per row on the sides and 1 sc per st along the top/bottom edges.

Tassel Making

Tassel Making
  • Wrap yarn around a cardboard (3” tall) 10-12 times depending on desired thickness.
  • Slide off carefully, and tie a short piece of yarn (~6″) around the top (this will attach the tassel to the base).
  • Cut loops at the bottom.
  • Wrap another strand around the tassel about ½” from the top to create the “neck” of the tassel. Tie tightly and trim ends evenly.
  • Repeat for as many tassels as needed (1 per inch or desired spacing).

Attaching Tassels

Attaching Tassels
  • With your crochet hook or tapestry needle, pull the top tie of the tassel through the base border stitch (e.g., every 6th or 8th stitch).
  • Tie securely and weave in the knot to hide.
