Start after you’ve completed your main project (blanket, scarf, etc.). The base row assumes a clean edge of single crochets around your project.

Base Round (Optional):

Work a round of single crochet evenly around the entire edge of your project, placing 3 sc in each corner stitch. Join with a sl st to the first sc. This sets a nice foundation for the border.

Finishing Instructions:

Finishing Instructions
  • Weave in all ends using a yarn needle.
  • Block your work lightly if needed to even out the picots and border (especially if using natural fiber yarns like cotton or wool).
  • Optional: Steam block with a pressing cloth to enhance the definition of the picots.

Customization Tips:

  • For tighter picots, use ch-2 instead of ch-3.
  • For more spaced-out border, skip 2-3 sts instead of 1-2 between each triple picot.
  • For a more lacy effect, work triple picots into chain spaces rather than stitches.
