Crochet Doily Patterns

Materials Needed & Measurement:

  • Yarn: 15 grams each of King Cole Comfort Aran in two colors (Color 1 and Color 2).
  • Hook: 5.00mm crochet hook.
  • Finished Size: Approximately 8.5 inches (22 cm) in diameter when finished.

Abbreviations (USA):

  • RS: Right Side
  • ch: Chain
  • sc: Single Crochet
  • hdc: Half Double Crochet
  • dc: Double Crochet
  • rpt: Repeat
  • sl st: Slip Stitch
  • yo: Yarn Over
  • dc2tog: Double Crochet 2 Together (work 2dc in the same stitch, but leave the last loop of each dc on the hook, yarn over and draw through all 3 loops on the hook).

Important Note:

  • ch3 counts as the first dc for this pattern in rounds where dc is used.

Stitching Instructions for Making the Crochet Star Doily Pattern:

Round 1: Starting the Base

  • Make a Magic Circle: Create a loop with the yarn, leaving a tail. Insert your hook into the loop, ch1, and then work 16 sc into the loop. Pull the yarn tail to secure the loop, then slip stitch into the first single crochet to join the round. (16 single crochets)
  • Tip: Consider using a stitch marker to mark the first stitch of each round for easier tracking.

  • Ch2, 1 dc in the base of ch2 (this counts as the first dc).
  • Chain 2, skip 1 double crochet, then work a double crochet two together (dc2tog) in the next double crochet. Repeat from to around.
  • After completing this round, ch2 and skip the next dc, then sl st into the first dc to close the round.

Round 7: Creating the Next Set of Star Points

  • Skip the ch2 space, work 1 dc in the next dc2tog, ch3. Repeat from to around the entire round.
  • Once you reach the end, sl st into the 3rd chain of the starting ch6 to close the round.

  • Ch3, work (2 dc, ch2, 3 dc) into the same ch3 space.

  • At the last ch3 space, work 1 sc, and sl st to the top of the starting ch3 to close the round.

Finishing Touches:
